Things to do over the Summer

EQ:Are you looking for something for your children to do over the summer to keep them engaged and using their brains???

  • Take your child to the public library and let them check out books (did you know the Cobb County Public Library lets you take out 75 books at a time....wow!)

Check out fiction and non-ficture books (take your childs lexile score with you and ask the librarian to help you find grade appropriate material.

Take your child to read aloud sessions, they have them weekly and it's good for them to listen to them!

  • Have your child writing all summer long, they can write letters to their cousins, grandparents or anyone that they know that lives out of town.  They can even write to me if you have email access, just type in my email address (tiffany.demeester@cobbk12.org) and let them type away!  (I promise I will write back, I love penpals!)
  • Do you have internet access?  Here are some great internet sites:

www.starfall.com (for students who are reading below grade level this site will read the books with the children or to them)

www.funbrain.com (a great math website of math grames)

www.aaamath.com (another math website- have them start learning their multiplication facts)

www.brainpop.com (a science website)

www.multiplication.com (a site that focuses especially on multiplication)

www.readingrockets.org (a reading website for young readers)

www.gigglepoetry.com (funny poetry website)

www.discoverykids.com (great interactive stuff for kids)

Please remember you are always welcome to email me any questions or concerns through the summer!!!  (tiffany.demeester@cobbk12.org)

Enjoy your summer!!!
