First Grade - Responsibility - Learning why it's important to be responsible for yourself and what you can do to take responsibility for yourself.
Second Grade - Loveable/Unlovable - The importance of being kind and knowing that you are treating others the way you want to be treated.
Third Grade - Problem Solving - Learning six steps to help solve problems in school and outside of school.

My name is Jenny Richardson and I am the guidance counselor for first, second and third grade. I provide individual and small group counseling. Preparing for the CRCT!
I will be teaching test taking strategies and listening skills during March to help prepare the students for the CRCT Test. If you have any concerns about your child and the CRCT Test, please contact me and we can discuss what I can do to help your child.
Student Council is continuing after the holidays. We have our classroom Representatives and Alternates. The Representatives meet every other Thursday Morning for a meeting at 7:45 am in the Media Center. We are in the process of electing our officers who will help run Student Council. One of the programs Student Council leads at Hayes is the Paper Recycling Program. We collect paper from each classroom every other week and take it out to the recycling bin, so it can be picked up. This is an important program we offer because it helps to teach the children what we can do to help our community and environment.
February I will be teaching the following topics for classroom guidance.

I have started my small group counseling sessions. I am offering two types of groups. The first is for children who are dealing with parents divorce or separation. The second group is for children who need help dealing with frustration and anger.
