I answer emails more often than voicemails.

November 4: Teacher Work Day (Election Day)
November 25-29: Thanksgiving Holiday
Second grade is trying something new this year. We are all sending home the same homework packet. 1)The spelling words come with a list of activities to complete. The student should do at least one activity a night. A spelling test will follow on Friday. 2)Also included is a problem solving question. The student should look through the problem solving strategies provided and decide on which one to use. As the year progresses, I may send home some extra homework that correlate with our curriculum. 3)On the back of the daily folder is a reading calendar. The student goal is at least 15 minutes a night. Parents will need to initial the calendar nightly.
Thanks for all your help with your children at home. Any questions, just ask!

Hi, I'm Lauren Smith. I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio. I grew up there and graduated from Ohio University in 2004. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Atlanta in search of new things. I began my career at Hayes Elementary in the fall of 2005. I was a permanent substitute for a 3rd grade class and a 1st grade class. I began teaching 2nd grade full time the following school year. This year I will embark on my 3rd year teaching 2nd grade. I currently reside in Kennesaw, so you may see me around town.
